I’m not typically a “mall person.” Even as a tween, hanging out at the mall was not really something I was into. I just ended up bored really. But I’ll tell you what, living in Bangkok has made me a mall person now! Maybe part of it is that we live by 3 major malls, so they’re easy to go to and hang out in. But really I think it’s that they just do them differently here! All these mega malls along the Sukhumvit BTS line – they are just crazy. They are spectacles. Inside are designs that are intended to be an attraction in and of themselves.
Just check out this video I took in the Helix section of the Emquartier.
This stunning image of serenity was taken right outside of where the video ended. Though it wasn’t quite as serene as it looks. It was actually lively and joyful, because right behind me was a field of astroturf where children were allowed to run around and play.
Once you reach the top, you get stunning views of the Benchasiri Park with Bangkok city skyline, as well as what must be the most beautiful Starbucks on the planet. I’m not a huge Starbucks person, especially here in Thailand where you can find great coffee (not good coffee – great coffee) at every turn. I drink more coffee here than any other time in my life. But I’ll almost certainly be drinking coffee here.
They even have a waterfall built onto this mall! And yes, you could walk right up to it.
I’ll leave you with just one more image of Justin posing with some neon meerkats. Because why not have neon meerkats in the midst of all this natural landscape decor?
